Sac Intl Airport Seeks Food Truck Operators to Serve Free Waiting Area / Cell Phone Lot

Sacramento International Airport is looking for a few good food trucks.

The Sacramento County Department of Airports is asking for bids from mobile food concession operators to provide breakfast, lunch and/or dinner to hungry customers in the free waiting area, also known as the cell phone lot.

If business takes off, food truck services may be expanded to the rental car facility.

The airport’s free waiting area lets customers park until they get a call from their passengers to come pick them up,  saving them from circling the terminals. Airport officials want to encourage use of the lot, ease traffic at arrival curbs, and offer customers tasty new food selections from one of the nation’s hottest food trends.

Qualified food truck operators must have been in business operating a gourmet mobile food truck business for at least one year.  Selected vendors will sign month-to-month rental agreements for up to three years.

“We are always looking for ways to improve the customer service experience. Offering food at the Free Waiting Area is one more way to enhance the ease and convenience of using Sacramento International Airport,” said John Wheat, Director of Airports for the Sacramento County Department of Airports.

Interested parties should visit for details on how to apply.  Completed applications are due by 2:00 p.m. PDT on Oct. 3, 2013 to:
