Learn more about the history of this former bomber-training site.
Franklin Field is a public use airport owned and operated by the County of Sacramento. The facility does not have an air traffic control tower or personnel and serves the general aviation community exclusively. Approximately 20,000 operations take place each year at Franklin Field, much of which are flight training activities.
The airport was acquired by the County of Sacramento in 1947 from the federal government under the Surplus Property Act of 1944 and was the site of bomber training during World War II.
