Terminal B named Real Estate Project of the Year by the Sacramento Business Journal
Sacramento International Airport's Terminal B project was named Real Estate Project of the Year by the Sacramento Business Journal at its annual awards breakfast. Director of Airports Hardy Acree and members of the management team of the Sacramento County Airport System accepted the award.
Acree praised the Board of Supervisors for their support as well as staff and partners for bringing the project in three months ahead of schedule and under budget.
Terminal B opened Oct. 6, 2011 and has won five additional regional and national awards for engineering and construction excellence. Its many environmental features earned it Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification in April 2012.
The project, dubbed "Big Build," is the largest capital improvement project in Sacramento County history. It brought more than 2,400 jobs to the Sacramento region in the midst of the recession; $445 million of the $1.03 billion total budget went to Sacramento or Northern California construction and engineering design firms. The project was funded through revenue bonds and user fees.
