Holiday Parcels Temporarily Increase Mather Flights
Mather Airport expects increased flight operations through Christmas in response to the normal increase in cargo volume during the holidays. Cargo operations account for approximately seven daily operations, on average. Flights primarily occur Monday through Friday.
United Parcel Service (UPS) uses Mather Airport for regional cargo hauling operations. Cargo operations for UPS will gradually increase the weeks of Dec. 3-Dec. 17, peaking the week of December 18-Dec. 24. The week before Christmas average flight operations will increase to 24 flights per day.
In addition to holiday packages, cargo carriers such as UPS carry retail stock, manufacturing supplies and more. Cargo flights are critical to ensure that the Sacramento region quickly receives vital goods such as pharmaceuticals.
The Sacramento County Department of Airports is responsible for planning, developing, operating and maintaining the county’s four airports: Sacramento International Airport, Executive Airport, Mather Airport and Franklin Field.
