TMM Housekeeping Awarded Custodial Duties Contract at SMF
Sacramento, CA – On March 26, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors voted to award the custodial services agreement at Sacramento International Airport (SMF) to Total Maintenance Management (TMM) Housekeeping, Inc.
Under the California Displaced Janitor Opportunity Act, TMM is required to retain all front-line staff during the 60-day transition period and will offer continued employment to them if their performance during the 60-day period is satisfactory. This protection extends to all subcontractors and their employees.
TMM is dedicated to transitioning all existing employees from the current custodial services provider to TMM. They see value in hiring an experienced workforce and do not want employees of the current contractor to be uncertain about job retention.
“We have a place for them, and we are going to support them,” said Dave Shultis, Vice President of TMM Housekeeping. “Our preference is to transition all current employees, including those with disabilities. There’s a job for them, and I look forward to meeting each and every one of them.”
“We appreciate that this was a thoughtful decision by the Board,” said Sacramento County Department of Airports Director Cindy Nichol. “And look forward to working with TMM Housekeeping to provide a smooth transition that will allow us to continue to provide the best experience for our customers. It is our hope and expectation that all current PRIDE employees will continue working here at SMF.”
County staff are committed to working with TMM to ensure compliance with the Act’s requirements, the transition in service providers occurs as smoothly as possible, and custodial workers have easy access to available employment resources
