Sacramento International Airport Celebrates Launch of New Service to León, Mexico
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Volaris is set to launch twice-weekly nonstop service to Leon, Mexico on Wednesday, November 21, and Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is joining with the airline to make it a festive occasion.
Passengers will be greeted by airport staff with pre-departure snacks and amenity kits, and a ribbon cutting will take place to mark the occasion. The flight will depart at 1:05am in Terminal B aboard a 174-seat Airbus A320 aircraft. The southbound flight will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The northbound flights departs Leon (BJX) at 9:23pm on Tuesdays and Fridays.
León is a city in the central Mexican state of Guanajuato. It’s known for its production of leather goods, sold in the Zona Piel district. Visitors can check out the Aquarium Bajio, the Arco Triunfal, or celebrate the Feria de León.
Wednesday’s flight will mark the first time nonstop service has been available from Sacramento to León.
León lies at the heart of the Bajio region, said to offer the best quality of life in Mexico, and is a popular destination for Sacramento passengers visiting friends, family and relatives.
