Sacramento International Airport Earns Multiple Gold ADDY Awards for Award-Winning Campaigns

Sacramento, CA Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is being recognized for excellence in marketing and creative storytelling, earning multiple Gold ADDY Awards at the American Advertising Federation’s Sacramento Advertising Awards.

SMF received a Gold ADDY Award for its SMForward campaign in the Regional/National Consumer Campaign category, along with a Gold ADDY Award for its “Fear of Not Flying” television commercial.

“These campaigns reflect how we are continuing to evolve the SMF brand while staying true to what travelers value most about their experience here,” said Director of Airports for Sacramento County, Cindy Nichol.  “From ease and efficiency to creativity and storytelling, this recognition highlights the strength of our team and our partners.”

The campaigns were developed in partnership with Misfit, SMF’s agency of record, and build on the airport’s recent momentum in both passenger growth and brand visibility.

Matt Kolbert, co-founder of Misfit said, “SMF has such a strong sense of place and positivity; we wanted to translate that spirit into something visual, emotional, and just a little unexpected.”

The “Fear of Not Flying” campaign used humor and a relatable concept to highlight a shift in traveler mindset, focusing on the excitement of travel rather than the stress. The SMForward campaign supports the airport’s ongoing modernization program, showcasing major investments in infrastructure, new amenities, and an improved passenger experience.

These recognitions come as SMF continues to see sustained growth and increased demand, reinforcing its position as one of the fastest-growing airports in California.

The ADDY Awards, hosted annually by the American Advertising Federation, recognize excellence in advertising across all media platforms and are the industry’s largest creative competition.

With continued investment in both infrastructure and brand, SMF is strengthening its position as a leading airport for both travelers and industry innovation.
