Thanksgiving Travel Tips for Sacramento International Airport
The week before Thanksgiving is one of the busiest at Sacramento International Airport. Travelers can make the experience of flying or picking up guests less stressful by being prepared with information. Here are a few tips.
The economy lot will most likely fill to capacity sometime before Thanksgiving. The daily lot, at $12 a day, is a cost-effective alternative which is much closer to the terminals and involves a much shorter shuttle ride than the economy lot.
The daily lot is before the parking garage, and to the left. Follow the signs for daily parking.Check your airline website to see current regulations for travelers and the TSA website for what you can carry on and what needs to be checked. For example: creamy salad dressings and cranberry sauce need to be inside your checked bags. Cakes and pies are OK, but they may be subject to screening.
Try to arrive 90 minutes to two hours in advance of your schedule departure.
Picking someone up? Avoid circling the curb by using the free waiting area, also known at the cell phone lot. Located at Crossfield and Lindberg streets, it offers visitors an opportunity to wait until their passenger calls to let them know they are ready to be picked up.
Holiday entertainers will be performing in the baggage claim area of Terminal B on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m.
The doors at Terminal B are numbered and designated by airline name for easy identification and pick-up. The baggage carousels are similarly numbered. Southwest is located by doors 1 and 2 while Aeromexico, Alaska, American, Horizon, Hawaiian, and Volaris airlines are served by doors 3 and 4.
If you haven’t visited Sacramento International Airport recently. JetBlue is now located in Terminal A.
Information on these subjects and more is available visiting the airport’s website or Facebook page.
