Volaris Announces New Nonstop Service to Léon, Mexico in November

SACRAMENTO – Volaris (Y4) has announced it will offer twice-weekly nonstop service between Sacramento and Léon, Mexico (BJX) beginning November 21, 2018.  The timing is ideal for families visiting relatives for the winter holidays and joins Guadalajara as destinations offered by the ultra-low-cost carrier. Volaris operates out of Terminal B. Flights from Sacramento to Leon will depart after midnight on Wednesday and Saturday while flights from Leon to Sacramento will operate in the evening on Tuesday and Friday.

Léon is the largest city in the Mexican state of Guanajuato and is part of the economic powerhouse macroregion of Bajío within the Central Mexican Plateau. The city is known for its production of high-quality leather goods as well as premier hotels, restaurants and leisure activities. Léon is also known as one of the most environmentally friendly cities in Mexico as it has integrated bicycle lanes into its public transportation system.

“The recent announcement that Volaris Airlines will begin direct service to Léon, Mexico is yet another example of our airport system’s commitment to convenience for the traveling public,” said Sacramento County Supervisor Phil Serna, whose district includes Sacramento International Airport.

“We’re thrilled that Volaris is adding service to Leon, a popular destination among the Hispanic community for visiting friends and relatives,” added Mark Haneke, manager of air service development and marketing for the Sacramento County Department of Airports.

Sacramento-Léon (Flight 0253)

Departure:  1:05 a.m.

Arrival: 6:51 a.m.

Léon-Sacramento (Flight 0252)

Departure: 9:23 p.m.

Arrival: 11:50 p.m.
