Volaris Coming to Sacramento International on Nov. 15, 2012

Volaris, Mexico’s second-largest airline, will begin twice-weekly nonstop service to Guadalajara, Mexico from Sacramento International Airport beginning Nov. 15. Only nine other US markets offer Volaris service.

“I am pleased to announce the addition of our second international airline, just in time for the busy holiday travel season,” said Hardy Acree, director of the Sacramento County Department of Airports.

Volaris joins Aeromexico in offering nonstop service to Guadalajara and connecting service to other cities in Mexico and Latin America.

“It is great news that another airline, especially an international one, will be operating out of the new Terminal B,” said Sacramento County Supervisor Phil Serna, whose district includes the airport. “This is the first airline to initiate service since the terminal opened. The addition of new airline partners and destinations is a top priority for the County Airport System.”

Volaris’ inaugural flight will take place on Nov. 15.  Regularly-scheduled outbound service is scheduled for Wednesdays and Fridays; inbound service is scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Volaris will be operating either the Airbus A319 or the Airbus A300 aircraft with a capacity of 141 or 174 passengers, respectively

Flights schedule is as follows:

Outbound to Guadalajara (GDL):
Departs 12:15 a.m.  Wednesday & Friday; arrives 6:00 a.m.

Outbound to Sacramento (SMF):
Departs 8:35 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; arrive 11 p.m.
