American Airlines to Offer New Nonstop Service to Chicago in June
SACRAMENTO – American Airlines will begin new nonstop service between Sacramento (SMF) and Chicago/O’Hare International (ORD) starting June 2, airport officials have announced. American Airlines will reintroduce two daily nonstop flights for the peak summer season, with daily nonstop service continuing on a year-round basis beginning in mid-August. American Airlines last served the SMF-ORD nonstop market in summer 2004.
This service enhancement will provide Sacramento International Airport passengers with a choice of six daily nonstop flights to and from the Windy City, with flight times spread throughout the day. In addition to American’s service to O’Hare International, United Airlines also flies nonstop to ORD and Southwest offers nonstop service to Chicago – Midway International Airport (MDW).
With American’s new service, nonstop seat capacity between the two cities will be up 33 percent over the summer of 2015.
Passengers can book flights on the new service beginning the afternoon of Jan. 16.
American’s new Chicago service comes in addition to existing nonstop service between Sacramento and Dallas/Ft. Worth, Los Angeles and Phoenix and seasonal nonstop service to Charlotte.
