Memorial Day Travelers Urged to Arrive Early

SACRAMENTO, CA. — Memorial Day weekend kicks off a busy summer travel season at Sacramento International Airport.  Passenger traffic is up 6 percent year-to-date over April 2016. Passengers are advised to arrive two hours in advance of their departure beginning Friday for holiday travel, and to be aware of parking options as the economy lot may fill and close over the weekend.

Once they clear security, however, passengers can enjoy only-in-Sacramento restaurants and shops in Terminal A and Terminal B. The food court in Terminal A has been remodeled and features new furnishings and food and beverage offerings from the Iron Horse Tavern, Squeeze Inn, Paesanos, La Taqueria, Peet’s Coffee and Tea, Freshii and Vino Volo.

This summer, Sacramento International Airport will offer an average of 140 daily departures to 30 domestic and international destinations.  Expanded seasonal service to Boston on JetBlue begins Thursday, May 26 and additional flights will be added to the schedule in June, including:

  • Two new daily nonstop flights to Chicago and additional daily nonstop flights to Dallas, Los Angeles and Phoenix on American Airlines;
  • Additional daily flights to Chicago, Los Angeles and Seattle on Southwest;
  • Expanded daily nonstop service to Mexico City on Aeromexico; and
  • Expanded daily nonstop service to Guadalajara on both Aeromexico and Volaris

New nonstop service to Baltimore on Southwest begins Aug. 7.

The Sacramento County Department of Airports is responsible for planning, developing, operating and maintaining the county’s four airports: Sacramento International Airport, Executive Airport, Mather Airport and Franklin Field.
