New Pick-up Location for App-Based Ride Services in Terminal B at Sacramento International Airport

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Due to the increase in passenger volume and app-based ride service operations (Uber, Lyft, Wingz, etc.) at Sacramento International Airport, a new location for pick-up in Terminal B has been established. Beginning Friday, November 30, app-based ride service pick-up will be located adjacent to Hourly Lot B.

The previous location for pick-ups allowed for only a limited number of vehicles to be stopped at the curb at any given time. This caused significant traffic backups for all customers utilizing Terminal B. The new location will accommodate a larger volume of cars and will help reduce traffic congestion for curbside passenger pick-up.

“We are always looking for ways to improve customer experience at SMF,” says Samantha Mott, Sacramento County Department of Airports Spokeswoman. “This change will allow for easier pick-up for app based ride services and reduce traffic congestion.”

In approximately a year’s time, the Airport has experienced;

An increase of total passenger volume of 10%
An increase of app-based ride service operations of 64%
An average of approx. 3,000 app-based ride service trips per day
An increase in other ground transportation (taxi, shuttle, limo, etc.) of 15%

Temporary directional signage will be in place while the airport assesses more permanent options. The attached map highlights the new pick-up location in yellow.
