Sacramento International Airport Prepares for Busy Holiday Travel Season

A busy holiday travel period is approaching at Sacramento International Airport. Here are some tips to make travelling as easy possible:
DEPARTING PASSENGERS
• Arrive two hours in advance of departure.
Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Customers should give themselves time to find alternative parking in case their favorite location is full. Customers must pay the posted rate at whatever parking option they select.
• Daily parking for both terminals is clearly marked and available at the parking garage and the daily lot near the garage. Upon entering the airport, drivers should look for signs to daily parking and keep to the right.
•  The economy lot usually fills to capacity during Thanksgiving and Christmas. To minimize impact, the daily lot is now available at a reduced maximum daily rate of $12.
• Parking conditions and other airport information are broadcast on a three-mile radius from the airport on 530AM.  Parking lot closures will also be posted on overhead signs visible upon entering the airport.
GETTING THROUGH SECURITY
• The Transportation Security Administration website  offers the latest information on regulations.  While prohibitions on carrying liquids and gels remain, children age 12 and younger and adults age 75 and older can leave their shoes on while being screened.
• Use of advance on-line check-in or self-service boarding pass kiosks near the airline ticket counters and outside the TSA checkpoints will save time.
MEETING FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS
• Flight arrival information is available on airline websites or www.smf.aero
• Parking and waiting at the curb is strictly prohibited. A free waiting area (also known as the cell phone lot) is available for stress-free waiting.
• The doors at Terminal B are numbered and designated by airline name for easy identification and pick-up.
• There is a new loop road at Terminal B to help drivers who need to circle around the terminal.  Look for signs and slow to 15 miles an hour
• For those wanting to park and meet passengers, the hourly B lot is closest to Terminal B; the hourly (first) floor of the parking garage is the closest option for Terminal A.
