Sacramento Intl Airport is a contender for USA-Today “Best Airport Art” contest

Long known for its breathtaking collection of public art, Sacramento International Airport is now one of the nominees in USA Today’s Best US Airports for Art online contest.

People can vote up to once a day for the run of the contest, which ends 9 a.m. PST Monday, Nov. 11.
The winners will be announced on Nov. 13.
Sacramento International Airport Terminal A features six commissioned works of art, including “Samson,” a sculpture consisting of two 23-foot pillars constructed with luggage.  Terminal B has a dozen commissioned works of art, including “Leap,” a 56-foot red aluminum rabbit that has been featured in numerous magazine and newspaper articles.

The Sacramento County Department of Airports is responsible for planning, developing, operating and maintaining the county’s four airports: Sacramento International Airport, Executive Airport, Mather Airport and Franklin Field.
