Uber Makes Getting to SMF Even Easier
SACRAMENTO - Sacramento International Airport (SMF) has reached an agreement with Uber allowing the ridesourcing company to operate legally at the airport. The agreement went into effect on Sept. 1.
The operating permit applies to all UberX drivers. The airport does not have agreements with other Transportation Network Companies (TNCs) but the permit is available to all TNCs willing to sign an agreement with the airport.
“This agreement gives customers an additional choice for ground transportation services at Sacramento International Airport,” said Director of Airports John Wheat. “Customers have requested this service, which now joins our complement of onsite taxicabs, shuttles, buses and limousine services.”
Uber Sacramento General Manager Jay Gierak said, "Last week, Uber celebrated one million rides with riders and drivers in Sacramento, and this week the celebration continues as the Sacramento International Airport opens its doors to Uber.
